Atlanta is officially booming! The metro Atlanta area, including Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell, has climbed the ranks to become the nation's 6th largest according to the U.S. Census Bureau. This impressive growth isn't slowing down anytime soon - Atlanta is the third-fastest growing metro area in the US, adding a whopping 68,585 new residents in just one year (2022-2023). This trend is likely due in part to the pandemic, with the Census Bureau estimating over 200,000 people moving to metro Atlanta since April 2020. The growth isn't limited to just Atlanta itself - Georgia's overall population has boomed to over 11 million, making it the 8th most populous state. Even within Atlanta, specific areas are experiencing explosive growth, with Jackson County (north of Athens) and Dawson County (part of metro Atlanta) seeing jumps of 5.5% and 5.1% respectively. With its thriving job market and attractive lifestyle, Atlanta's population surge presents exciting opportunities for the real estate market, businesses, and the overall economy of the region.
