Atlanta Streets Alive Open Street Event Returns to Peachtree Street This Fall

Atlanta Streets Alive is making a comeback to Peachtree Street, offering a series of open street events this fall and into 2024. In the fall of 2023, the event is scheduled for Sundays from 2-6 pm on September 24, October 22, and November 19. It will continue into 2024 on the third Sunday of each month from April to November. The route will span from 14th Street in Midtown to Baker Street downtown.

This event, known to draw crowds of over 100,000 people in the past, is returning after a hiatus, driven by the pent-up demand revealed in the 2022 Midtown Community Survey. The City of Atlanta's Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) is now overseeing the event, with support from Propel ATL, Midtown Alliance, and Central Atlanta Progress. The event focuses on local businesses along the route and promotes healthy living, transportation options, and civic pride.

Local organizations have the opportunity to host activities during the event, which can be registered with the City of Atlanta online. Volunteers are also encouraged to participate and help with various event tasks. City laws regarding open containers will apply, and liquor license requirements for establishments remain in place.

During event days, Peachtree Street will be closed from noon, with events officially starting at 2 pm and concluding at 6 pm. The street closure will remain until 7 pm for cleanup. Several cross-street access points will be available for east/west travel across Peachtree Street, with the Atlanta Police Department directing cross-traffic. Read more here.
